The Perimeter Team is comprised of 4 officers and a Team Leader, usually as Sergeant. Their primary duty is the containment of the suspect's location. This includes stopping anyone from leaving the location as well as not allowing anyone to enter the area from outside the inner perimeter.
The Perimeter Team is ready to react immediately if someone exits the structure and goes unchallenged by the Reaction/Entry Team. If someone does exit the location the Perimeter Team begins giving verbal commands until the suspect is contacted by the Reaction/Entry Team and taken into custody.
Perimeter Officers are armed with both lethal and less-lethal munitions giving them the ability to deal with and contain a suspect with the minimal amount of force needed to gain compliance and affect the arrest.
Perimeter Team members stand ready to assist and augment the Reaction/Entry Team whenever needed. Perimeter Officers are trained in the basics of SWAT operations, as well as, the advanced techniques of Hostage Rescue and High Risk Warrant Service.
