Scheduling Your Safety City Visit

Scheduling of all AISD classes will be accomplished through the AISD Education Facilitator's Office and the Safety City Staff.

All other school classes will be scheduled by calling 325-676-6096.  Due to changes in the website we are not able to schedule by email - SORRY!.  Due to tight scheduling, please complete scheduling procedures between August 1st and September 30th.  Priority will be given on a first come first serve basis.  Please see a list of available dates listed on the bottom of this page.

You will receive a confirmation letter and updated materials one + months prior to your visit.  Should it be necessary to cancel your visit, please notify the Safety City staff no later than 8:15 a.m. on the day of the trip.  Due to a very full schedule, every effort will be made to reschedule your visit.

Arrangements should be made to include a minimum of SIX, ADULT volunteers, to assist the staff.  Please advise all parents/volunteers that they will be assigned to a work station.  Volunteers should not bring other children.  Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and dress according to the weather.   There is not a limit to the number of visitors, everyone is encouraged to visit with their child's class.  Visitor interaction with the children is limited.

All busing arrangements should be made through the principal's office at your school.

Classes at Safety City are approximately 5 hours long, not including transportation time.  Please make every effort to arrive on time.  Restroom breaks should be completed prior to your start time.  If you are unable to meet our time requirements, please notify the staff when scheduling your visit.

There is a public park immediately adjacent to Safety City with a playground and picnic tables.  Limited picnic facilities are available at Safety City also.  We ask that the students DO NOT leave this area and wonder around Safety City during their lunch break.

Before you leave school, divide the class into three groups.  The children in each group should be given a number starting with one(1) and continuing to the end of that group.  The number "one" child in each group should be a "leader" type student, one that will not be afraid to go first or make a mistake.  Children that cannot ride a bike should be distributed evenly among all three groups and be placed at the end of the group.

Nametags should be made for each student in each group.  One group should be red, one group yellow and one group green.  Each nametags should be 3-1/2 inches diameter with a number and the child's first name on it.  The child's first name and number should be written in large letters on both sides of the tag with a black marker BEFORE laminating.  Although not a requirement, laminating the nametags help them wear better and they do not come off as easily.  Please safety pin the tags to the child's outer clothing prior to your arrival at Safety City.  Straight pins and staples do not work!!!  Your volunteers should also have nametags.

Special Need Students

We take pride in the fact that we have never turned a student away from our program.  Please help us to ensure that the visit of challenged children is just as much fun as everyone else's.  Please make us aware of their special needs prior to your visit and provide an aide to be with them.  Include wheelchair students, students that can not ride a bicycle and other special need students as the last child in the groups.
